liberty collage

Using Katherine's design B6877, we combined 3 harmonious Liberty prints: Tennant, Beckinsdale, and Kaleidoscope, which has the effect of creating a new fabric. Liberty prints are fun to pair together; the trick is to look for colors, patterns and scale that relate but don't necessarily match perfectly - a bit of contrast is part of the secret. This design is perfect for pattern play or color blocking, and is also a standout in a solid color.

V8975 IN JENNIE MAE

Marcy says, ' This is one of my favorite patterns, fun to make and wear, love love love the deep pockets!. A knit is a must for the top which is like a t-shirt, but you could also use a woven. Here, we used a cotton knit, Jennie Mae a rich purple toned floral from our Danish Knits Collection.'

The studio name for this pattern is the Puzzle Dress, check out my V8975 Puzzle Dress blog for more sewing and design tips and details.'

Vogue 1860 in Hedy Blue Danish Cotton/Spandex Knit

Marcy says, 'This flattering dress skims the bust and hips, is perfect in the weight of any of the fabrics in our Danish Knits Collection, either print or solid. (Makes a great little black dress too). Adjust the pattern for your bust, waist and finished length. The asymmetrical seaming adds dimensional details. If you don't want to go sleeveless, the pattern includes a fitted little ¾ sleeve scoop neck t-shirt to make in a knit or mesh or lace.'

Marcy says, 'Pairing Esther Rose, a feminine modern-retro print with an airy sculptured shape reminds me of the line from the Joni Mitchell song "...All those Pagliacci summer frocks".

V8813 IN KURO JAPANESE COTTON SEERSUCKER

Marcy says, ' The studio name of V8813 is the little French housedress. one of my most popular OOP patterns is still available online on Etsy or EBay. It is perfect for warm weather, with a loose floaty fit and deep pockets. We used Kuro Black, an airy Japanese seersucker. The dress can be cut short as a tunic to wear over pants or long, mid calf or ankle length. When sewing seersucker, I use steam and finger pressing to avoid flattening the texture.'
