Gray on Gray Spots Sweater Knit - detail
Very hip novelty knit. I'm calling it a sweater knit, but it would work for a top or little jacket or for a sweater. Constructed with a lacy effect so the right side is a soft more to the warm toned textured gray punched with 'holes' outlined in brown/gray. The 'holes' are filled in with a mesh net knit in the same blue-teal, and the wrong/back side of the fabric is predominantly soft grayed brown, so you could use both sides and the cool selvedge too. This is a 2 way stretch with the stretch going lengthwise (parallel to the selvedge), but the look and construction are such that you could cut either lengthwise or crosswise. This is a stable knit, so it will be easy to sew. The face fabric is softly brushed, cozy and appealing, not scratchy. The fiber content is a mystery, these new novelty fabrics are not often labeled when they come from the suppliers. I'm guessing a blend of poly/acrylic/lycra, maybe a bit of nylon.

I'd pre treat by laundering on gentle and air dry, then treat the finished garment the same way.
