Quietly beautiful floral ikat taffeta with flowers in shades of blue and purple and soft black, woven into a subtly striated tonal rust brown background, deadstock from a French mill. The slightly blurred, shimmery floral effect is called chiné a la branche that was once the province of silk weavers in 18th century Lyon, interpreted here in a modern way that also hints at its antique influence. Lightweight, opaque, smooth hand with a lightly crisp structural drape. Right for a dress, skirt, tunic, shirt, kimono, caftan.
Pre-treat by wash/dry gentle.
