Dramatic black and navy grid on gray is bonded to another layer giving it a firm scuba-like structure and stability. Designer deadstock is mid/heavy weight with good crosswise and some lengthwise stretch, no rolling at the cut edge, 11" repeat and no seam finish needed. It has a sweater-like soft hand and structured sculptural drape. The weight is right for a jacket, vest, coat or structured dress. I'd allow extra ease to accommodate the sculptural quality of this fabric. I see garments in Paris made from this kind of thick, beefy fabric -- French designers surprise me by using a heavier crisp fabric for dresses as well as outerwear.
