Shuttle‑loom denim is narrower (30–40\" vs. 60\"+ for modern looms), so yardage and construction differ. Often woven in Japan with a strong emphasis on craftsmanship and quality, and used in selvedge jeans which have the side seam sewn with the selvedge showing on the right side.
