Sew a cozy warm sweater instead of knitting one! Beautiful classic cable knit in a rich black wool blend. Fine quality designer deadstock from an Italian mill is a chunky heavy weight with alternating small and large cables, a soft hand and structured drape. Make a sweater, cardigan, vest, cozy coat or bind the edges for a throw.
SEWING TIPS
- test, test, test first
- use a walking foot
- or, sew seams stitching over a strip of TOTALLY STABLE to prevent stretching
- cut with a larger (3/4") seam allowance
- sew primary seam with a longer length and narrow zig-zag stitch
- experiment with serging: width and length, even feed
- stabilize the shoulder seams with a strip of fusible tricot
- steam lightly with little pressure on the seams - a clapper can be very helpful.
Lightly steam before sewing - as if blocking a hand knit sweater so the fabric is on grain and even. Hand wash and air dry.
