White natural cotton shirting is hand block printed in an overall grid of 1/2" squares; comes in small 10 yard cuts as the printing is all done by hand in small batches, so there is a charming irregularity to the squares. The base is a very fine old-school cotton in a light shirting weight that just gets better with age. Soft and airy with an appealing smooth hand, this will feel incredible on a warm day. Easy to sew and perfect for a shirt, dress, top, tunic or skirt.
I love working with my supplier, a woman, who is carrying on her family tradition in the fabric business. She lives in the US, goes back and forth to the factory in India, and is always coming up with new concepts, colors and designs for traditional Indian fabrics. The fabrics are made to order in India, and are shipped directly to us from there. These fabrics have a beauty and integrity that reflect the presence of the hands that made them. She keeps inviting me to come to India with her. Maybe one of these days!
Pre-shrink by tossing in the washer/dryer. After sewing, hand launder or machine wash gentle and air dry. Wash separately.
