Impeccable quality fine grained cotton double gauze from Japan, in a charming print designed by a textile artist has a graphic asymmetrical border in sunny yellow morphing into teal. The wider border is 16 1/2" wide and has a watercolor hand painted look with darker yellow-green abstract writing overlaid on top. The central field is 24 1/2" wide and has a painterly watercolor wash effect which blends into the brighter teal border on the other edge (this measures 2 1/2 wide) and finishes with 1 1/2" pale yellow along the selvedge. (Hope that is clear!). The unique weave is actually two layers of fine light cotton woven together and the effect is airy yet opaque and stable, a popular clothing fabric in Japan, as it is breathable and very comfortable...and, a pleasure to sew with and to wear. Supple, soft airy cotton shirting weight is great for a blouse, dress, shirt or top and would be perfect for children's clothes. I used this weight combined with a Japanese linen for a duvet cover. Makes lovely accessories, small bags, pot holders, table linens etc too.
I order months in advance to get this season's collection, no re-orders, so when it is gone, it is gone.
Pre-treat by wash/dry gentle, softens and gets more loft when put in the washer/dryer. Test a swatch to be sure. After sewing, I recommend wash gentle and air dry.
