Beautiful quality shirting weight cotton is shibori hand dyed deep pure black with small and nickel sized dots. The dots have an appealing softened texture. From India where hand made textile traditions continue. The base fabric has an appealing cool dry hand with a lightly crisp drape and is right for a shirt, tunic, blouse, vest, dress, skirt or soft pants. Feels delicious, will be excellent for travel. I've been seeing similar fabrics used in upscale dresses, tops and tunics in Paris shops.
I love working with my supplier, a woman, who is carrying on her family tradition in the fabric business. She lives in the US, goes back and forth to the factory in India, and is always coming up with new concepts, colors and designs for traditional Indian fabrics. The fabrics are made to order in India, and are shipped directly to us from there. These fabrics have a beauty and integrity that reflect the presence of the hands that made them. She keeps inviting me to come to India with her. Maybe one of these days!
Pre-treat by washing/drying on gentle. This is a hand dyed fabric, so I'd recommend giving it a couple of washings. After sewing, machine wash gentle and air dry so the black does not fade.
