1 unit (1/2 yard)
A new shipment just arrived. Each one varies a bit, this has the same fabric with slight variations in the hand stitching threads
From India where hand made textile traditions continue. Pieced patchwork is sewn together, then overdyed a rich green. Patchwork on one side, overdyed vintage cotton saris on the reverse, are hand stitched together in a running stitch using a pearl cotton thread. The selvedge edge and ends are hand stitched/finished as well, so you could use as a design element . The fabric is made by hand in 10-12 yard pieces - let us know if you want one entire piece for a project. Has a smooth hand, soft to the touch, light drape, really beautiful Right for garments, accessories and home decor. You could use this for a jacket, coat, vest, skirt or dress.
NOTE: This is a new batch of Green Kantha, (the photographs shown here are from this current stock). Each re-order is different from the previous because the fabric is hand made - sewn, dyed and produced to order in small quantities in artisan workshops. Imperfections are part of the hand made beauty of these fabrics.
I love working with my supplier, a woman, who is carrying on her family tradition in the fabric business. She lives in the US, goes back and forth to the factory, and is always coming up with new concepts, colors and designs for traditional Indian fabrics. The fabrics are made to order in India, and are shipped directly to us from there. These fabrics have a beauty and integrity that reflect the presence of the hands that made them.
