Hopper Japanese Selvedge Denim Woven

Charcoal black Japanese selvedge denim has narrow bands of white selvedge on both edges of this classic denim fabric which, prevents it from unraveling and, shows a clean finished look. On RTW 'selvedge' jeans, the selvedge edge is often used exposed at the side seams. Japanese denim is considered the best, and it is more expensive, because it is woven on old shuttle looms and made using premium threads. Selvedge denim is becoming more rare due to the vintage equipment required to make it consistently. Mid/heavy weight, crisp with a firm hand - and will soften over time and with wear. I tossed a sample into the washer/dryer and it lost some of its crispness. Right for classic or contemporary jeans and structured jackets, coats and vests.

Pre-treat by wash, dry. Test a swatch first to see the result with your washer/dryer.
