Stunning and unusual, from a southern CA designer, black and pewter novelty matelasse woven in 32 inch panels. Light jacket weight with an airy drape, the weave reverses itself on either side, moving from a soft pewter to black and back again, with a line of demarcation where the panel begins and ends and a scattering of pewter and silver in the transition areas. This will be a very fun fabric to design with as both sides are the same, and the lightly textured weave could be cut on the lengthwise or cross grain. Some raveling, so I'd serge the edges. The weight is right for a jacket, vest, coat or dress. I'm seeing it in Kathryn Brynne’s simple lined jacket or vest,Vogue 9135, or Katherine’s wonderful sculptural vest, Butterick 6138.
