This light and airy cotton has woven-in fine line black and white stripes that look like a tiny running stitch. The fabric is hand dyed a sandy taupe, so the colored lines have the effect of hand stitched kantha cloth. The overall effect reminds me of a map, and has a quiet vibrance. Feels delicious with a cool dry hand fine grained texture and light airy drape. Opaque, with no lingerie show through. Right for a dress, top, tunic or skirt.
I love working with my supplier, a woman, who is carrying on her family tradition in the fabric business. She lives in the US, goes back and forth to the factory in India, and is always coming up with new concepts, colors and designs for traditional Indian fabrics. The fabrics are made to order in India, and are shipped directly to us from there. These fabrics have a beauty and integrity that reflect the presence of the hands that made them. She keeps inviting me to come to India with her. Maybe one of these days!
Pre-treat by wash gentle and air dry.
