Silvery gray and black marled silk taffeta; the two colored threads are interwoven creating a subtle dimensional lightly textured effect with a crosswise texture. Smooth, cool dry hand and lightly airy drape in a shirting weight that is right for a top, dress, shirt, blouse, vest, light jacket or skirt. This is a fabric you can cut on lengthwise, cross grain or bias. To keep the original smooth slightly crisp texture and feel, dry clean or hand launder cool and air dry. To kick back the silky effect, toss in the washer dryer (serge the raw edges and place in a lingerie bag), take out when slightly damp and press...the fabric becomes softer, more cotton-like and looses some sheen when treated like this. On a personal note, silk taffeta is one of my favorite fabrics because it can be dressed up or down and it feels great to wear.
