Black and white small scale geometric hatch marks in a double ikat hand woven cotton from India....some of the most interesting and soulful fabrics are coming out of India today where textile traditions continue. This geometric pattern has a 4" repeat.
Double Ikat is a technique in which both warp and the weft are resist-dyed prior to weaving, so it it is the most difficult to make and more expensive.
Mid/light weight, opaque with a lightly textured appealing cool hand and airy drape. The weight is right for a tunic, shirt, jacket, vest, dress, skirt or soft pants. This is one of those fabrics that will just keep getting better over time.
I love working with my supplier, a woman, who is carrying on her family tradition in the fabric business. She lives in the US, goes back and forth to the factory in India, and is always coming up with new concepts, colors and designs for traditional Indian fabrics. The fabrics are made to order in India, and are shipped directly to us from there. These fabrics have a beauty and integrity that reflect the presence of the hands that made them. She keeps inviting me to come to India with her. Maybe one of these days!
Pre-treat by wash gentle and air dry.
