This is a beautiful modern basic. Darkish gray cross woven linen (a mix of black and white threads), in a textured gauze with overall vertical crinkles that reminds me of vintage Issey Miyake 'bark' cloth. The cross weave adds depth and the permanent woven in subtle texture adds a bit of spring and hides wrinkling. Cool dry hand, lightly crisp drape, opaque, no lingerie show through, but some shadowing if you stand against the light. Light/mid weight is right for soft pants, shirt, top, blouse, tunic, skirt or dress. Ideal for travel and wardrobe building. This is a fabric you could use for a base tunic and pant, then add pops of color in a jacket, vest or shirt, or keep it all neutral and wear with pale tones, white etc.
Pre treat by hand laundering or machine wash gentle and air dry. You can toss linen in the dryer if you want all over wrinkles, but always pre test a sample, some fabrics respond well, others not so well. Test Test Test. After laundering hand wash or machine launder gentle and air dry. I like to take my linens out of the laundry while still very wet, hang on a hanger and pull and smooth the seams and hems, allowing the weight of the water to do the work, then touch up with an iron or not.
