White Cut Work Cotton Woven sold by the 5 yard piece
SOLD BY THE 5 YARD PIECE
White on white hand sewn/appliqued cotton cut work from India. Two layers of pure white cotton; semi sheer organza-like on the back side, fine soft cotton lawn on the right side. The geometric pattern is formed by cutting out the shapes, then turning each edge under and stitching it by hand. My mind boggles at the thought! Light, airy and ethereal. The weight is right for clothing and home decor. I can see it as a blouse, tunic, top, dress or skirt. Our ArtBarn team thinks it would make a beautiful wedding dress. I can see it for the home, could be curtains or a light bed covering, room divider or pillows.
This fabric is hand made in 5 yard lengths, and we are selling it by the 5 yard X 40 inch wide piece
Some of the most interesting and soulful fabrics are coming out of India today where textile traditions continue.
I love working with my supplier, a woman, who is carrying on her family tradition in the fabric business. She lives in the US, goes back and forth to the factory in India, and is always coming up with new concepts, colors and designs for traditional Indian fabrics. The fabrics are made to order in India, and are shipped directly to us from there. These fabrics have a beauty and integrity that reflect the presence of the hands that made them. She keeps inviting me to come to India with her. Maybe one of these days!
Hand launder and air dry.
