Inspired by the natural ikat-style patterns and markings found in variegated tulips. Geometric shapes were painted with large brushstrokes on a textured paper, in order to create the appearance of an ikat weave. These painterly motifs were then overlaid to add further texture and depth, camouflaging the simple tulip repeat. This print is part of the Floral Focus narrative of the collection – inspired by countless artists who have attempted to tame their unruly blooms through the genre of still life, this series is a true celebration of organic forms and flourishes.
