Clouded Graphite Italian Denim Woven

Classic marled (black interwoven with ivory threads) gray denim, impeccable quality deadstock, produced in Italy for LA designer/artist Sterling Ruby* for S.R. Studio. Midweight, with a twill weave, smooth hand, reversing to marled pale ivory/gray, with a malleable lightly crisp drape. Right for a jacket, coat, vest, jeans, tailored pants, structured skirt or dress, bags, accessories, workwear, menswear. Marcy says, 'I love finding deadstock with this quality and interesting backstory. While this clothing line is no longer in production, it is a stroke of luck to find some of their deadstock fabrics.'

*At his Los Angeles studio, Sterling Ruby bleaches large rolls of canvas and denim to use for his fabric collages and sculptures. Taking inspiration from the quilters of Gee's Bend in Alabama, as well as Boro textiles from Japan, he makes quilts from scraps of the bleached denim and other materials left over from the production of other artworks.
