Frosted Plum Silk Dupioni Woven

Classic silk dupioni* in rich crosswoven icy violet-purple, fine quality deadstock from an LA designer. Light/shirting weight, opaque, softly textured, with a soft hand and lightly crisp yet malleable drape. Dress it up or down, make a dress, shirt, skirt, vest, soft pant, light jacket, or duster coat. Makes a luxurious lining, works for accessories and home decor too. A silk jacket or vest is a basic in my wardrobe and makes a smooth layering piece to slide over/under other garments and travels well. Limited quantity.

*Silk dupioni is known for its distinctively textured appearance and luxurious feel. It is created by weaving two or more different colors of silk threads, resulting in a slightly slubby, irregular texture with a lustrous quality and soft sheen.

Marcy says, 'I like to kick back silk dupioni by tossing it into the washer and/or dryer which creates overall crinkles, mutes the sheen and softens the drape - a method I've seen and liked used by upscale designers. If you want to try, test a small cut to see if you like the result. I cut a 4-9" strip, then cut in half crosswise, toss in with a load of delicate laundry, air dry one piece and toss the other in the dryer, then see which I like best.'
