Beth facilitates the flow of fabric to our customers by filling orders, responding to phone calls, and assisting with color and fabric inquiries. “Working for Marcy has been a true gift in my life. For most of my adult life, I have been self-employed as a basket maker alongside my husband, which is a very different way of living. Now, I am surrounded by strong, creative women who express themselves through their work.” Each morning, Beth enjoys sipping tea while hand stitching, and she ends her day in the same way, savoring the feel of the thread and the rhythm of the needle weaving in and out of the cloth. Those small stitches often transport her into daydreams. She has spun, dyed, and woven wool, and she has always been a dedicated knitter. Beth creates stunning hand-sewn Alabama Chanin garments that she proudly wears in her everyday life.

Diane oversees fabric intake from our warehouse/photo studio, where the fabric first arrives. She carefully checks in all new materials, often re-rolling them from tubes to bolts, determining weight and cost, and preparing them for photography. Additionally, she ensures our recycling efforts are up to date by transporting loads to the local recycling center. Diane has been sewing since she was nine, starting in scout camp. At home, she nurtures a thriving vegetable garden and cares for a flock of chickens. A prolific and accomplished knitter, Diane is always ready to assist with our knitting dilemmas!

I help with incoming fabrics, rolling the fabric onto bolts, cutting for our cool combos, cleaning and a few other odds and ends. Over the years, I have had MANY different jobs, and this job is a dream come true. I am lucky enough to have my son with me at work when he is not at school (or sports - soccer/kung fu or on a play-date). The team I work with is GREAT!! The team inspires, motivates me and are a great influence for me and my son. I am constantly learning new and exciting things about fabric. I have been beading with seed beads since I was in first grade. My mom has been sewing most of my life (for decades), and I can (still) hear the rhythm of her old treadle sewing machine.

Katherine's charming studio cottage is nestled next to the ArtBarn, and she is a creative muse for us all. An intuitive and practical designer, we often seek her guidance for design consultations on our sewing projects. She has an exceptional eye for combining patterns and prints, and is an integral part of selecting fabrics for the website and accompanies Marcy on buying trips. Not only is she our go-to tech expert, but Katherine excels with spreadsheets, expertly managing our records and itineraries for the Paris tours. As the Vice President of the company, she writes many of the fabric descriptions featured on our website among many other roles. Recently, she has been honing her embroidery skills through an art potholder project and has already achieved her initial goal of 100 pieces, and she shows no signs of stopping!
