Marcy Tilton Fabrics is a natural extension of my lifelong passion for fabrics and sewing, which I have shared through classes, workshops, retreats, books, magazine articles, Vogue patterns, and now through our website, blog, e-newsletters, and direct communication with our customers. If you call with an order or a question, there’s a chance you’ll reach me, leading to engaging conversations about sewing.

Our online fabric store got its start over 25 years ago when I started selling small amounts of fabric during workshops and lectures, initially launched from my home design studio. Today, we have expanded into a team of seven, remodeled the barn where we store and ship fabrics, upgraded Katherine's studio with a mini warehouse, and enhanced our receiving warehouse/photo studio. Katherine and I handle the buying, I oversee photography and name each fabric, manage the website's back end, assist with marketing and advertising, develop the blog, and if I’m lucky, I get the chance to sew in the studio.

The ArtBarn team ensures that our orders flow smoothly. When I sold The Sewing Workshop in San Francisco over 30 years ago and moved to the Oregon, this was my dream, and I feel incredibly fortunate to be living that dream. I adore every aspect of my work, especially sharing my passion for fabric, design, and creativity with others. Taking photographs of fabric for the website has ignited a newfound love for photography, which I cultivate as a creative outlet by attending workshops around the world and embracing the ‘beginner's mind’ as I sit on the other side of the desk after a lifetime of teaching.

Katherine and I personally select each fabric, prioritizing design, quality, texture, and appeal, knowing that for our customers, creating clothing is a labor of love. I choose fabrics that I would use myself, often thinking of specific customers when I discover something special. I seek out distinctive prints, subtle neutrals, essentials, and unique colors and designs, all while keeping in mind those who love certain colors, and am always on the lookout for the latest trends in fashion and textile technology.
