Black Shadowfax Checks Silk Organza Woven
Silk organza in woven-in black on black sheer/opaque checks, produced in India where textile traditions continue. This is an unusual organza in that it has a supple drape - not quite as crisp as a classic organza. Lightweight, sheer, with a smooth hand and airy light soft drape. Silk organza is often thought of as formal, but its crisp, sheer qualities can be interpreted for everyday use too. Right for a blouse, dress, skirt, lightweight overlay top, vest, jacket, or kimono, for detail accents, home decor, mixing with other fabrics as accents. Marcy says, 'Organza (always silk) is a favorite fabric that I keep in my stash as it has so many creative uses. Right now, I am seeing a floaty vest or jacket/shirt to layer over basic garments, adding a whisper of color/texture. Sew using a sharp/microtex #10 needle and fine cotton or silk thread.' Has a balanced 2" repeat.
Do NOT 'pre-shrink' as silk organza can become more limp when laundered. It does not shrink. Test to hand-launder cool/air dry. If you want to 'stress/beat up' silk organza by laundering hot and/or putting in the dryer, it will become soft and crinkled, a method sometimes used with intention by designers.
