Japanese Denims

3 new japanese denims

My friend Nancy M taught me the trick of 'beating up on fabric', (to soften, make more interesting), - not right for every fabric, but worth a try on some. I took 1 yard cuts of each of these and tossed them in the washer on heavy duty/hot, then the same in the dryer. Voila! It worked like a dream. The fabric softened in a very good way. I've just sent 3 yards to my designing niece Madeline Tilton to make a jumpsuit and I am auditioning some for a Fall 2020 Vogue pant. Exclusive to us, check it out.... Japanese Denim.

Diane Ericson's details

For this cozy chic shirt Diane used Vogue 9153 paired with 3 cotton flannels, cut some pieces on the bias, flipped the striped facing to the outside, added a strip of contrast to peek out under the front, cut the collar on the bias and when it was too long, simply added pleats to make it fit.

marcy's details

Tried using the continuous sleeve placket opening at the neckline, love how it worked - quick and easy. Altered the collar to fit and used snaps to close. Sewing on snaps is a form of embroidery, takes a bit of practice, but fun to do, and now I am excited about hand sewing. Just sent for The Intentional Thread to tune up my stitching. Stay tuned!
