The ArtBarn Team
At Marcy Tilton Fabrics we are committed to serving and supporting each customer's unique creativity and sharing our love of fabric. We provide a curated collection of fabrics and products chosen with Marcy's discerning eye. Buying fabric on the internet is a new experience for many, and our goal is to make it a personal, satisfying and fun experience for our valued customers. We are located in rural Southern Oregon, on a park-like 4 acres, 5 miles from California and about 50 miles from the coast in a pristine small valley. Online only, no retail.
Beth
Beth facilitates the flow of fabric to our customers by filling orders, responding to phone calls, and assisting with color and fabric inquiries. “Working for Marcy has been a true gift in my life. For most of my adult life, I have been self-employed as a basket maker alongside my husband, which is a very different way of living. Now, I am surrounded by strong, creative women who express themselves through their work.” Each morning, Beth enjoys sipping tea while hand stitching, and she ends her day in the same way, savoring the feel of the thread and the rhythm of the needle weaving in and out of the cloth. Those small stitches often transport her into daydreams. She has spun, dyed, and woven wool, and she has always been a dedicated knitter. Beth creates stunning hand-sewn Alabama Chanin garments that she proudly wears in her everyday life.
Diane
Diane oversees fabric intake from our warehouse/photo studio, where the fabric first arrives. She carefully checks in all new materials, often re-rolling them from tubes to bolts, determining weight and cost, and preparing them for photography. Additionally, she ensures our recycling efforts are up to date by transporting loads to the local recycling center. Diane has been sewing since she was nine, starting in scout camp. At home, she nurtures a thriving vegetable garden and cares for a flock of chickens. A prolific and accomplished knitter, Diane is always ready to assist with our knitting dilemmas!
Cinnamon
I help with incoming fabrics, rolling the fabric onto bolts, cutting for our cool combos, cleaning and a few other odds and ends. Over the years, I have had MANY different jobs, and this job is a dream come true. I am lucky enough to have my son with me at work when he is not at school (or sports - soccer/kung fu or on a play-date). The team I work with is GREAT!! The team inspires, motivates me and are a great influence for me and my son. I am constantly learning new and exciting things about fabric. I have been beading with seed beads since I was in first grade. My mom has been sewing most of my life (for decades), and I can (still) hear the rhythm of her old treadle sewing machine.
Katherine
Cinnamon has taken on many roles and is invaluable for her willingness to tackle any task that needs attention. She manages all our packing and shipping, as well as cutting and fulfilling orders. We love that she says she has held many jobs, but this one is her dream come true! It's always a pleasure when Cinnamon’s son, Ezra, comes to work with her; he often helps by hauling fabrics and can name most of them! Cinnamon is also an expert in beading with seed beads, creating stunning necklaces, pins, and earrings. Meanwhile, Ezra showcases his own superpower by effortlessly assembling complex Lego creations!
