Iona China Silk Border Woven
Border print in teal and burgundy accented in rust, mint, and pale blue, etched with black on pale ivory background in a fluid China-woven. From LA designer Johnny Was, deadstock out of the designer's personal sample room stash. Lightweight, with a smooth silky hand, light airy drape and 38" repeat. Right for a dress, shirt, kimono-type jacket, blouse, tunic, skirt, soft pants, or lounge wear. Marcy says, 'SO many ways to use a border print, and would make a beautiful lining.'
I cut sheers with fabric and pattern placed on top of paper, (computer weight, butcher paper, etc.), squaring off the ends to align the grain. Place the paper down first (tape together as needed), then fabric, pattern on top. Secure by pinning and cutting through all the layers. A rotary cutter works best as it does not lift up the layers. The paper keeps the shape of the pattern pieces so you can move them around to mark without distorting the shape. Sew with a sharp fine needle.
