Salton Sea French Brocade Woven

Subtle fine line black and white brocade has undulating 'waves' accented with gold thread and a touch of stretch, vintage '90's deadstock from a French mill. Mid/light weight, with a subtle gleam, smooth, lightly textured hand, reversing to white with black so you could use for accents or trims, with a soft, lightly crisp, airy drape. One side reads more black, the other more white. Has lengthwise stretch, so consider cutting on the crossgrain so the stretch goes around the body. Right for a jacket, coat, duster, vest, pant, skirt or dress. Marcy says, 'To dress up or down, to line or not, the smoothness of the fabric assures that other garments will slip on/off easily. The fiber blend suggests production on older looms using materials that are no longer economically or practically viable today.'
